SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICE
JULY 27, 2025
This year’s Celebration Week Kick-Off takes us back to our roots—with a heartfelt service at one of our beloved Community Churches. As part of our annual tradition, we rotate locations to honor the rich diversity of faith across our community.
The church plays a central role in Caribbean culture because it has long been a source of resilience, unity, and identity. During times of hardship—including slavery, colonialism, and economic struggles—faith communities offered spiritual refuge and strength. The blending of African heritage with European religious traditions created deeply personal expressions of faith unique to the region, such as Revivalism, Spiritual Baptists, and Rastafari. Churches became places not only for worship, but for healing, resistance, and social support.
Beyond religion, the church serves as a social anchor. It’s where many Caribbean families gather weekly, celebrate milestones, and build community ties. Churches have historically led in education, civil rights, and disaster relief—often stepping in where governments could not. Vibrant music, colorful festivals, and inspirational preaching make church gatherings feel like cultural events, reflecting both the faith and the joyful spirit of Caribbean life.
